At work in 41 Counties

K9 Deployment detection dogs and their handlers work in 41 counties (and counting). We work at business compounds, schools, colleges and universities, private businesses, licensed premises, festivals and public events such as racecourse meetings and pop concerts. The government uses sniffer dogs to sweep buildings on a regular basis with drugs successfully detected.

Sniffer dogs trained to detect drugs are a real asset in establishing that premises are drug-free and in deterring drug dealers and drug traffickers from operating.

The impact of drug use on public safety has been made evident in figures released by the DVLA showing over 20,000 people banned in a fifteen-month period from January 2018 for offences including causing death by careless driving, driving or attempting to drive with a drug level above the specified limit and being in charge of or driving a vehicle when unfit, that works out at around 300 prosecutions a week.

The sniffer dog handler

Spectators marvel at Sniffer dog demonstrations where narcotics are concealed, masked with overpowering odours and diluted to minute amounts. The interaction between the sniffer dog and the handler, the discipline of the dog and the "alert" signal when drugs are detected is compelling.

The sniffer dog is the apparent star of the show, but the experience of the handler in communicating, reading and heeding the behaviour and specific alerts of the dog is a result of all the hours of training.

No less important is the focus given to interacting with the public in a variety of environments, dealing with people of all ages with the aim to positively engage and educate whilst acting as a deterrent to those who carry drugs.
